Growing in Faith

Scripture

Hebrews 11:6
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." — Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

Devotional

Faith is not a destination—it is a journey.
No one begins with mountain-moving faith. Every believer starts by learning to trust God in the small things before trusting Him in the greater things. Just as a child grows physically over time, our faith is meant to mature through daily fellowship with God.
Hebrews 11 reminds us that every hero of faith had a starting point. Abraham did not become the father of many nations overnight. Noah had never seen rain before he built the ark. Moses did not immediately lead Israel with confidence. Their faith grew as they repeatedly responded to God's voice with obedience.

Faith grows when it is exercised.

Just as muscles become stronger through use, faith becomes stronger each time we
choose to believe God's Word over our circumstances. Every answered prayer strengthens
our confidence. Every trial endured with trust deepens our dependence on God. Even
seasons of waiting become classrooms where God teaches us perseverance.

Growing in faith requires more than simply hearing the Word. It requires embracing it,
speaking it, and living it.

Faith grows when:
  • We spend time in God's Word.
  • We meditate on His promises.
  • We remember His faithfulness.
  • We obey even when the outcome is uncertain.
  • We refuse to let fear have the final word.

There will be moments when your faith is tested. Those moments are not evidence that
God has abandoned you; they are often opportunities for your faith to mature. A tested faith
can become a stronger faith when it remains anchored in God's character.

God is not looking for perfect people. He is looking for people who continue trusting Him,
even while they are still growing.

Today, ask yourself: Is my faith stronger than it was a year ago?

If the answer is yes, thank God for His work in your life.

If the answer is no, today is a wonderful day to begin growing again.

Reflection

Where is God inviting you to trust Him more deeply?

What promise from His Word do you need to hold onto today instead of allowing fear or doubt to shape your response?

Faith grows one act of obedience at a time.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of faith. I desire not only to have faith but to grow in it. Teach

me to trust You more each day. Strengthen my confidence in Your promises and help me to

obey Your Word even when I cannot see the full picture. Let every challenge become an

opportunity for my faith to mature. Make me steadfast, faithful, and fully dependent on You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Challenge

Choose one promise of God from Scripture today.

Write it down.

Read it several times.

Pray it.

Speak it aloud.

Then take one practical step of obedience that reflects your trust in God's Word.

Remember

Faith does not grow by accident—it grows through daily fellowship with God and consistent obedience to His Word.
