Devotional
Dominion begins with knowing who we are in God.
In Genesis 1, God created the heavens and the earth, and everything He made was good. Then He created man in His own image and likeness. Man was not created as an afterthought. Man was created as God’s representative on the earth.
When God said, “Let them have dominion,” dominion was connected to original plan of God for man. Man was meant to rule this realm (earth) in a way that reflected God’s character: His wisdom, order, love, justice, creativity, fruitfulness, and holiness.
This means dominion was never meant to be selfish control. It was meant to be representation. God created man to walk with Him, rule under Him, and reveal His nature in the earth.
But sin distorted that identity. Man lost his place through rebellion and independence from God. Yet through Jesus Christ, our identity has been restored.
That is why 1 Peter 2:9 is so powerful. It reminds us that we are chosen, royal, holy, and God’s special possession. We are not ordinary people trying to survive life. We are God’s people, called out of darkness into His wonderful light.
As believers, we carry both kingly and priestly identity. As kings, we carry authority under God. As priests, we carry worship, prayer, holiness, and service before God. We do not rule apart from God; we represent Him.

Key Truth
Dominion begins when identity is restored. I cannot walk in dominion if I do not know who I am in Christ.
Reflection Questions
- Do I see myself the way God describes me in 1 Peter 2:9?
- Where have I allowed fear, failure, or the past to define my identity?
- How can I represent God better in my home, work, church, and community?
Action Step
Declare 1 Peter 2:9 over yourself today:
“I am chosen.
I am royal.
I am holy.
I belong to God.
I have been called out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
“I am chosen.
I am royal.
I am holy.
I belong to God.
I have been called out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
Prayer.
Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and restoring me through Jesus Christ.
Help me to see myself the way You see me. Deliver me from every false identity, every lie of
the enemy, and every mindset that keeps me living below Your purpose. Teach me to walk
as Your representative on the earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
