Jesus Christ — The Living Word

Scripture
John 1:1–5, 14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us."
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us."
The Living Word
When most people hear the phrase "the Word of God," they immediately think about the Bible.
While the Scriptures are indeed God's written Word, they point us to something even greater.
They introduce us to a Person.
John does not begin his Gospel with a baby lying in a manger. He begins before creation itself.
"In the beginning was the Word."
Before there was time...
Before there was light...
Before there was mankind...
The Word already existed.
John introduces Jesus, not merely as a teacher, prophet, or miracle worker, but as the eternal Word of God through whom everything was created.
Through Him all things were made.
Without Him nothing exists.
He is Creator.
He is Life.
He is Light.
Darkness has never overcome Him.
This changes the way we approach Scripture.
The Bible is not merely a collection of stories or moral teachings.
It is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Every page points toward Him.
Every prophecy reveals Him.
Every promise finds its fulfillment in Him.

The Written Word Reveals the Living Word
The Apostle John later writes:
"For there are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." — 1 John 5:7 (KJV)
Notice he does not say:
"The Father, the Bible and the Holy Spirit."
He says:
The Father.
The Word.
The Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Living Word.
The written Word introduces us to Him.
Christianity is therefore not simply reading information.
It is entering into relationship with the One the Scriptures reveal.
The more you know His Word...
The more you know Him.

Why This Matters
Many believers spend years reading Scripture but never encountering Christ.
Knowledge without relationship produces religion.
Relationship through the Word produces transformation.
When you open your Bible tomorrow morning, do not simply ask,
"What chapter should I read?"
Instead ask,
"Holy Spirit, reveal Jesus to me through Your Word."
That simple prayer changes everything

Final Thought
The Bible is not the destination.
Jesus is.
The Scriptures are God's invitation to know His Son.
The more you know the Living Word, the more your life begins to reflect Him.

Prayer.
Father,
Thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ, the Living Word.
As I read the Scriptures, open my eyes to see Christ more clearly.
Help me to know You, not merely gain knowledge about You.
Transform me through Your Word until my life reflects the One who is the Word made flesh.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.
