Devotional Thought
Dominion was never designed to be carried in human strength alone. From the beginning, God created man in His image and gave him dominion over the earth. But that dominion was meant to operate in partnership with God, not independence from God.
When man fell, dominion became corrupted. Authority became self-centered. Stewardship became selfishness. Leadership became control. But through Jesus Christ, what was lost has been restored.
Jesus came as the perfect image of God and walked in perfect partnership with the Father. Isaiah 11:1–2 shows us that the Spirit of the Lord rested upon Him. The sevenfold expression of the Spirit reveals the fullness of the Holy Spirit operating in Jesus: the Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.
These are not seven different spirits. They are seven expressions or dimensions of the one Holy Spirit. They reveal how Jesus carried dominion on the earth.
He did not rule by pride.
He did not lead by human wisdom.
He did not act independently.
He did not minister by self-effort.
He walked by the Spirit.
This matters because believers are called to walk in restored dominion as kings and priests. As kings, we carry authority under God. As priests, we carry worship, holiness, intercession, and surrender before God.
But we cannot walk as kings and priests without the help of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of the Lord gives us the presence and authority of God.
The Spirit of wisdom helps us apply God’s truth correctly.
The Spirit of understanding gives us spiritual perception and discernment.
The Spirit of counsel gives us divine direction and strategy.
The Spirit of might gives us strength, boldness, and courage.
The Spirit of knowledge gives us revelation of God’s truth.
The Spirit of the fear of the Lord keeps us humble, obedient, pure, and reverent before God.
This is the Spirit of dominion.
Not dominion by flesh.
Not dominion by pride.
Not dominion by human ability.
Not dominion by control.
But dominion by the Holy Spirit.
If we are going to represent God well in our homes, workplaces, families, ministries, and communities, we need more than good intentions. We need the Spirit of God resting upon us.
We need wisdom for decisions.
We need understanding for discernment.
We need counsel for direction.
We need might for courage.
We need knowledge for truth.
We need the fear of the Lord for purity and obedience.
We need the Spirit of the Lord for His presence and authority.
Jesus walked in the fullness of the Spirit, and through Him, believers are invited to grow in the Spirit as well.
The goal is not to be fascinated by spiritual concepts. The goal is to become more like Jesus.

- Where do I need divine counsel before making my next decision?
- Is there any area where I need to return to the fear of the Lord, obedience, and reverence?
Action Step
Today, pause before making decisions and pray:
“Holy Spirit, rest upon me. Give me wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord. Help me represent Jesus well today.”
Then identify one area where you need the Spirit’s help and intentionally invite Him into it.
It may be your family.
Your work.
Your ministry.
Your leadership.
Your decisions.
Your emotions.
Your planning.
Your relationships.
Do not move in self-effort. Partner with the Holy Spirit.

Father, thank You for restoring me through Jesus Christ. Thank You that I am chosen, royal, holy, and called to represent You in the earth.
Holy Spirit, I need You. Rest upon my life. Fill me with the Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.
Teach me to walk in dominion without pride, authority without rebellion, and influence without independence from You.
Give me wisdom for decisions, understanding for discernment, counsel for direction, might for courage, knowledge for truth, and the fear of the Lord for obedience and purity.
Help me to walk as a king and priest before You. Let my life reveal Jesus. Let my words, actions, decisions, and assignments carry Your presence and glory.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
