Living by the Word

There comes a point when every believer must answer one question:

Is it simply something you hear every Sunday?

Or is it becoming the foundation upon which your life is built?

Jesus never intended His followers to become informed.

He intended them to become transformed.

Christianity is not information.

It is transformation.

Transformation happens as we continually engage God's Word.

There are four simple steps every believer should practice:

READ
Feed your spirit daily.

BELIEVE
Receive God's Word as truth.

SPEAK
Release God's promises with faith.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue.

APPLY
Obedience activates transformation.
Knowledge alone changes nothing.
Applied truth changes everything.

One fascinating picture appears throughout Scripture.

In the Old Testament, God's people carried swords in their hands.
"Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand."
  Psalm 149:6

But after Christ's resurrection, John sees something different.
"Out of His mouth came a sharp double-edged sword."
Revelation 1:16

God's authority is now revealed through His spoken Word.

The believer's greatest weapon is not what they hold...

It is what they faithfully speak in agreement with God's Word.

Today, make a decision.

Build your life around God's Word.

Not culture.

Not emotions.

Not opinions.

Read it.

Believe it.

Speak it.

Apply it.

If you remain faithful to these four disciplines, the Word of God will transform your mind, your character, your family, your decisions, and your future.

The Living Word will shape you into the person God created you to become.

Father,

Plant Your Word deeply within my heart.

Teach me not to be a hearer only, but a doer of Your Word.

May my life be built upon the unchanging truth of Jesus Christ, the Living Word.

Transform me from glory to glory as I walk in obedience to You.
